  • ASAP Podcast with Dr. Joseph Signorile, University of Miami

Pic 1000a Recently, while in Columbus, Ohio at the EAS Sports Nutrition seminar, I had the opportunity to talk with Dr. Joseph Signorile, a professor of Exercise Physiology at Miami University. Dr. Signorile gave a very interesting lecture which would have particular interest to personal trainers, physical therapists and those who work with aging populations. His studies in sunny Miami, Florida focus on research that includes prescriptive periodization training for older individuals. Click on the Podcast bar or the official ASAP Podcast Logo for this intriguing interview with a leading research exercise physiologist.  Furthermore, one could get even more information on Dr. Signorile’s research through his new book entitled “Bending The Aging Curve.” In this new textbook, discover the indications of what aging curves are and how to set up a true diagnosis prescription model. And, in the back of the book, there is a diagnostic program that allows professionals the ability to assess their clients’ needs and to provide the targeted training to meet those needs.

  • Cincinnati Reds’ Strength Coach Matt Krause…on Shoulder Strengthening

Cincinnati Reds Strength & Conditioning Coach Matt Krause and star pitcher Bronson Arroyo explained this shoulder strengthening routine to me a couple of years ago. It's a great way to get your shoulders, especially the rotator cuff region, prepared for some serious strength training……. or some throwing!
Krause, who isn't a native of Cincinnati, has certainly developed an affinity for one of the Queen City's favorites. And that is Skyline Chili. That's where the locals get their chili in the form of a "3-way," "4-way" and the ultimate "5-way." So, Matt aptly named this regular shoulder strengthening routine used in the workouts by the Cincinnati Reds players the:

    "5-Way Shoulder Routine" …. it's Skyline Time!
