  • February 11th and 12th 2011: Big Ten Champs Michigan State Strength Clinic

DSC_0873 Before long, the bowl games will be over and the off-season will commence. So, now's the time to start the serious planning stages of how you'll build a championship program….like for example, the Michigan State Spartans! Ken Mannie and Mike Vorkapich have designed a clinic that will serve to motivate and educate all sports coaches and personal trainers and anyone else who trains and conditions athletes.
I always look forward to learning from master strength and conditioning coaches. In fact, twenty three years ago, while I was training championship high school athletes in Cincinnati, Ohio, I sought to bring in the best coaches around to help me ignite my program. Coaches like Kim Wood, Ted Lambrinides, Rock Oliver, Chip Morton, Mark Asanovich, Shaun Brown, Ken Mannie, Mickey Marotti, and Brad Bates…to name a few… all left a great influence on my program. Years later, these guys are still at it… and sharing their knowledge with those willing to learn!

Anyway, you can catch a lot of those aforementioned influences… plus a few more… in East Lansing, Michigan in February:Click on the ASAP Stadium Logo for the Clinic Brochure Even smaller

Ken Leistner… Powerlifting USA, Steel-Tip, Hard Training writer.  Long time strength professional and chiropractor. Created the famed "Iron Island Gym". Knowlegable and entertaining.

Ted Lambrinides… a professor of strength training….has basically visited all of the top strength complexes in the world…. including the former Soviet Union. Okay, maybe not all…but most! Presently, a strength coach at the University of Kentucky. Founder of the internationally recognized ASAP~Athletic Strength And Power training program. Well known NFL Combine prep coach. Was on the Ohio State Buckeye Strength Staff * Speed & Exercise Physiology consultant for many NFL and NCAA programs * NCAA Speaker Bureau.

Mike Gittleson… trained all of the top University of Michigan players in Ann Arbor for 30 years! Heisman winners… All-Americans…National Championships! Hired by the legendary Michigan Football Coach Glenn "Bo" Schembechler. Gittleson is now working for a strength training manufacturing company and is a sought out speaker! Truly a coach to learn from. Polished speaker.

Ray "Rock" Oliver… collegiate football player and coach. Strength coach who motivates with a unique style that has led teams to National Championships! Now back at the University of Kentucky as the Head Strength Coach.

Bob Rogucki… longtime strength coach in the National Football League. Once directed the strength program for the Arizona Cardinals and is presently the Head Strength Coach with the Baltimore Ravens NFL. Always helpful and informative. Has the coaching background to advise any coach on how to establish a program.

Rick Court… up and coming strength coach who is presently at the University of Toledo Rockets. Former Michigan State Spartan. Also seved as an assistant coach at Bowling Green State Univ. with Coach Aaron Hillmann

Christine Bradd… M.S. and Registered Dietician…directs the Spartan Nutrition and Performance Program.

And, don't be surprised when you see the Head Football Coach of the MSU Spartans, Mark Dantonio. Coach "D" will be on hand to help kick-off the seminar.

The clinic is conducted at the home of the MSU Spartans, known as the Skandalaris Center at the Duffy Daugherty Building. It'll be conducted in a comfortable, auditorium style team meeting room and also, right down the hall in the sprawling Spartan Strength Training Complex. That's where several of the coaches will conduct the practicum segment.

    also, Mike Vorkapich….Strength Coach!
