Coach Mick shares a meaningful message with the Buckeyes

Coach MickThe  Ohio State Buckeyes'  Ass't  A.D. for Football Sports Performance, Mickey Marotti…..known around the Woody Hayes Athletic Center as "Coach Mick"… is preparing to hand over the "keys", both figuratively and literally,  of the OSU Buckeye Machine to his head Coach Urban Meyer  The Buckeyes check in to fall camp on Sunday as the off-season grind comes to a halt and the equipment managers start issuing shoulder pads, helmets and the rest of the gear to protect the players.  The team is ranked 5th in the coaches preseason poll, so you'd think that they have a ton of players returning. However,  there are only a handful of starters that will take the field against the Bowling Green State Falcons on September 3rd over in the giant horseshoe Ohio Stadium.

Pre-season respect like that is a tribute to great recruiting and great preparation. Ohio State brings in some great players, but that's only part of the equation when you're making runs at national championships. Preparation is also a huge piece of the pie and Coach Marotti has the experience to help guide these elite athletes to a higher level.

  • ASAP PODCAST with Ohio State Strength Coordinator Jeff Uhlenhake

Buckeyes’ Director of Football Performance, Eric Lichter answers questions at the coaching clinic as Ted Lambrinides (left) and Jeff Uhlenhake listen in.

Today’s ASAP~Athletic Strength And Power Podcast features the Strength Coordinator for the Ohio State Buckeyes, Jeff Uhlenhake. Jeff knows about physical training, winning, football… and about Ohio State football. He grew up and played high school football just forty five minutes from the "old giant horseshoe" in Newark, Ohio where he played football for the Newark Catholic Greenwave. He then moved on to playing for the Buckeyes and earned All-America status as a star offensive lineman and captain.  From there he enjoyed a ten year career in the National Football League with the Miami Dolphins, New Orleans Saints and the Washington Redskins.  He had some stints as a high school head football coach and administrator, coached with Mark Dantonio at the University of Cincinnati and also spent some time as a coach with Cleveland Browns.

But Jeff Uhlenhake doesn’t spend a lot of time bragging about his career or playing days….he’s more concerned about the Buckeyes and helping out the careers of the current squad! Join ASAP Podcaster Ed Cicale for today’s interview
