  • Detroit Lions Weight Room & Training Camp Photos

    Lions cover
Even in a northern state like Michigan, morning temperatures in the 50's and brisk winds don't blow through that often in mid August during the Detroit Lions Training Camp at their Allen Park, Michigan training center. But, that's the way it was on that day as I sported about five T-shirrts. Players brought out the cool weather gear and Head Strength & Conditioning Coach Jason Arapoff definitely emphasized proper warm-up on this particular morning. The Detroit Lions put a good practice together despite the chill and ASAP got a close-up look at guys like Calvin Johnson, Matt Stafford, Michael Bush and the big rookie Larry Warford.

Following practice, we headed inside for some pics of the expansive weight training center that's overseen by Arapoff and his Assistant Strength Coach Ted Rath. These two have the Lions in good shape as they make their run at the NFC North crown for 2013.

Here's the photos…. just click here or on the Detroit Lions helmet above. Also, be sure to check back on our ASAP website and ASAP Twitter feed toward the end of the season for updates on their Detroit Lions Strength & Conditioning Clinic which is usually held in February….and one of the better and most well organized clincs that you'll attend.

  • Cincinnati Moeller FB Coach John Rodenberg at Rocky Boiman Football Camp

    "Make a Plan"

We had the opportunity to work, speak and get some video at the Rocky Boiman Football Camp last week in Cincinnati, Ohio.  ASAP's Ted Lambrinides and Cincinnati Moeller Head Football Coach John Rodenberg were guest speakers.

Coach Rodenberg has had an exciting coaching career that includes a Division 1 (big schools) 2012 State Football Championship [Ohio] at Cincinnati Moeller High School. Here's a video of Coach Rodenberg's talk to the youth campers as he delivered a great message for all young athletes!

  • High School Strength Training: Noblesville (Indiana) High School

N-MillersThere's a high school in Noblesville, Indiana where they have taken strength training and fitness to a whole new level. I had an opportunity to check out the new facility a few weeks ago while I was at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis. I attended the Hammer Strength strength and conditioning clinic in Noblesville several weeks ago. Located about 12 miles north of Indiana's capital city, lies the city of Noblesville and that's the home of the Noblesville Millers. The high school layout, grounds and architectural plan are remarkable. However, if you're any type of coach, whether that would be high school, collegiate or professional level, you would most likely be astounded if you were to tour the strength training facility there.
The facility is supervised by Brian Clarke, the school's Wellness Department Chairperson and Strength & Conditioning Coordinator. And it's within that impressive training center where he teaches strength training and general fitness courses.
The video takes an in-depth look at the training center and you'll hear from Coach Clarke, an articulate professional who takes training seriously. The students at Noblesville are fortunate to have him at the helm! And, as you'll see in the video, they even have their own app to help organize and motivate the students and athletes there. Very cool.

Click on the Noblesville Millers' logo to check out the pictures, too!

  • Tennessee Vols Football Strength Training Video with Dave Lawson: Part One

IMG_4510They're  the same iconic checkerboard endzones emblazoned upon the football fields in Knoxville, Tennessee…home of the University of Tennessee Vols. Yet, they're cast under a new light since Head Football Coach Butch Jones has come to town. The new staff has embraced the Tennessee Volunteer past by opening their arms and facilities to the former players and lettermen who paved the way for one of the top winningest programs in all of college football.

IMG_4548There have been no games yet, but there's been plenty of winter strength training, high energy conditioning sessions and spring football. Spirits are high and for the new coaches, the whirlwind has yet to really slow down. But, that makes little difference to the Vols Football Director of Strength and Conditioning. Coach Dave Lawson knows all about the demands and high expectations of what Tennessee Football is all about. The mantra in Knoxville is basically… "we just wanna win." Lawson and his cohort, Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach Mike Szerszen, rolled up their sleeves when they arrived at their new $50,000,000 Vols Football training complex…. and it's been go-go-go ever since!  So take a look at the photos and video from the Hammer Strength Clinic 2013 from Knoxville, Tennessee. This is truly one of the most impressive training centers that you'll find anywhere.
