  • ASAP Advisory Board: Ken Mannie; Michigan State University

He’s been training athletes for over thirty years and he still has his sleeves rolled up and is ready to take his athletes at Michigan State University to the next level. The guy is a motivator…. I’ve seen him in action….. and he sure knows how to get the job done. Period. There’s a reason why ASAP~Athletic Strength And Power has him postioned on our ASAP Advisory Board. One, he’s insightful. Two, he knows the business of strength training. Finally, his personality just plain makes you want to work hard. Mannie_ken_2
Coach Ken Mannie is a regular contributor to Scholastic Coach and Athletic Director  and, of course  www.AthleticStrengthAndPower.com . Coach Mannie will be starting his 14th year as the Head Strength Coach for the MSU Spartans.

Today, ASAP posts a recent article found in Coach and Athletic Director. The article covers a few aspects of certain topics like lifting movements, training equipment and multi-joint movements. Ken’s ethical style is not accompanied by product endorsements or related advertising…. just straight shootin’, objective imformation to help coaches and trainees at any level.

  • Athletic Strength And Power Podcast: Rocky Boiman Indianapolis Colts

    Boiman

One of Life's lessons…. "You just persevere and good things happen"….Rocky Boiman

In just a few short days, Rocky Boiman will be at the Indianapolis Colts training camp at Rose Hulman College in Terre Haute. The hard summer weight training sessions are in the past now. The onetime Cincinnati St. Xavier Bomber got one more sprint training session in at Covington Catholic High School on a perfect Saturday morning. Usually, the mid July northern Kentucky heat and humidity can be almost unbearable…..especially down on the FieldTurf. The Saturday morning ASAP Training program can leave many athletes in a state of complete exhaustion. Full Gassers….Half Gassers…. Backpedals….Shuttles……and Lunges take their toll. But Rocky….. well, it's obvious that he's the "guy that plays for the Colts" to the casual observer who may be taking a light jog at the CovCath track. He flies up and down the field almost with ease. It's here that you can see why he "usually reports to camp as one of the best conditioned guys" as he pushes himself to the max.

    August 2008 podcast

Today’s ASAP~Athletic Strength And Power Podcast is with one of the "regulars" down at The Workout @ Covington, Troy Evans, of the New Orleans Saints. His strength training workouts can be summed up with one word: INTENSE.  Troy is also a fixture at the summer acceleration training running workouts… he’s the guy flying up and down the field, seemingly effortless. But, always out in front! Saints_evans

Troy is a former captain of the University of Cincinnati Bearcats and the Houston Texans of the National Football League (NFL).  In this podcast, Troy talks about his training program as he prepares for his 6th year in "the League" and some talk on sports nutrition, too.

Locker Room Quote: "I’m getting ready for my 18th season of Two-a-Days"

Checkout this short…but "fast" YouTube video of Troy Evans working on 300 Yard shuttles for speed training. He on the right hand side and running with Indianapolis Colt, Rocky Boiman.  Troy has been working with ASAP Director, Coach Ted Lambrinides since 1999.
