  • Kenton Volleyball Club training at The Workout@Covington

Volleyball12_2Recently, the Kenton Volleyball Club (Kenton County Kentucky) began a rigorous ASAP training program. The program consists of several training aspects including goal setting, strength training, physical conditioning, jump training, ground-based sports skills, agility training, acceleration training and also explosive power development. One of the keys to improved performance is the development of lean body mass.

And after witnessing some of the intense workout sessions taking place at The Workout @ Covington, these girls will definitely be improving many phases of their game. Take a look at some of the photos through either the download…. or the YouTube version.

  • Time For Some Hard Work? How About Ken Mannie’s Approach?

There’s always plenty that you can do to jump start your training program. One way would be to get down to one of several of "The Workout" Training facilities. In Cincinnati, Ohio there’s Hyde Park, Adam’s Landing, Western Hills or in Northern Kentucky… The Workout @ Covington. Also, the Tampa, Florida location is very popular at The Athletic Performance Center where Scott Savor trains many high performance athletes.Cliff_pullup1_2

Of course, there are plenty of coaches and trainees who don’t live in proximity of of one of our training centers…yet still want the latest insights and opinions from the ASAP~Athletic Strength And Power network. Due to the technology of the internet, we get requests for information from all reaches of the world! Without a doubt, some of our more popular blogposts are those with the Ken Mannie influence. Coach Mannie, the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach of Michigan State University is on the ASAP Advisory Board.

Today’s post features a pdf download from a recent POWERLINE segment that appeared in Coach & Athletic Director. We’re sure you’ll enjoy this one entitled "Strength Training’s Bottom Lines."

    CHOOSING TO WIN !!!

    While there are certainly enough
    factors in physical improvement that
are out of our control (e.g., genetically-
    based road blocks), there are
    enough controllable variables for us
to corral and use to our benefit……. Ken Mannie

Check out Ken Mannie’s "Short list of Manageable
    Criteria for Success"
    : Coach_&_Athletic_Director_pdf.

And be sure to check out the MSU Strength Clinic in East Lansing this February 1st.

  • LaRosa’s MVP’s No Strangers to ASAP Training

Pizza_3  In Cincinnati, it almost seems that if you’re not having a "three-way" chili at a Skyline Chili Restaurant, you’re probably ordering a pizza from LaRosa’s. Both restaurants have a strong affliliation with high school sports in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. LaRosa’s features high school athletes in a special MVP website  and through photos that are enshrined in their restaurants. 07_15_nicole_staverman_2

Interestingly, many of these athletes have found their way to The Workout at Covington and ASAP training over the years…including recent Kentucky high school stars Nicole Staverman (Notre Dame Academy) and Cody Elliott (Beechwood High School).Cody

Keep up the Hard Work and Congratulations Nicole and Cody!!
